ADSB to APRS script

Few days ago I come with the idea to insert ADSB data into the APRS network. So I started writing a ADSB2APRS script and today you can see that I finally had real results.

The script is in very early stage but at least I have something working. I should fix some bugs as well as to add new features. So far it gets ADSB data from PlanePlotter, adsbScope or SBS1 station checks local icao24 hex to airplane ident database and sends APRS message to one of the core APRS servers which includes coordinates, original time stamp, link for the most recent pictures of the practicular airplane and some additional information about the script itself. That's all so far...

ADS-B receiver is ready

If you are wondering what keeps me busy these days you might take a look at the following :)
After some failures, finally I've managed to decode ADS-B packets coming from airborne objects around.
I use Andy's miniADSB receiver http://miniadsb.web99.de/ and Guenter's (DL4MEA) PICADSB9 decoder http://www.qsl.net/dl4mea/picadsb/picadsb.htm and adsbSCOPE windows software by Sprut http://www.sprut.de/electronic/pic/projekte/adsb/adsb_all.zip .
Take a look over the following screen shots:

My test setup is simple. A simple collinear antenna placed in front of my window allowed me to receive signal from an airplane that was 250km North of my location. In my opinion the results are pretty good. Check the photos below.

SDR-Kits Sintesizer is here.

The synthesizer board is finally here :) I purchased it from SDR-Kits. Delivery taked just 5 days including a weekend, which is incredible. Airmail is a great thing...
Kit was easy one to complete. Runs straight from the first power on. LVDS version needs one build step more - the output transformer winding. A funny thing is that I haven't install any drivers - they are the same used by the USBasp programmer.
Soon I'll post some spectral test data for reference. I intend to use the synthesizer with some of the YU1LM receiver or transceiver boards. Besides I've build DR2A receiver already, but more on this - soon...
Special thanks to LZ1BGR aka Bagera for the ordering and delivery help.

SDR photos

A couple photos of SDR I am using for the WebSDR:

SDR transceiver idea.

Yesterday I woke up with the idea to make a SDR transceiver. The goal is to make cheap and simple transciever for use in combination with PC/Laptop. After some research on kits over the net I've stumbled upon a youtube video "build a SDR transceiver ADTRX1-V1 YU1LM".

WebSDR is live and running.
